Abstract

Un proceso para la esterificación enzimática de ácidos grasos libres. En particular, la presente invención está relacionada con un proceso de pretratamiento para la conversión de ácidos grasos libres de aceites y grasas como material de carga para la transesterificación catalizada por bases para producir biodiesel. Reivindicación 1: Un proceso para reducir las concentraciones de ácidos grasos libres en una carga de alimentación de ácidos grasos mediante esterificación enzimática con alcohol reduciendo así las concentraciones de ácidos grasos libres a niveles compatibles con un proceso de producción de biodiésel catalizado por bases, o como un producto de aceite crudo adecuado como combustible para embarcaciones marítimas o como un aceite para carga de alimentación para la producción de aceite vegetal tratado con hidrógeno (HVO), que comprende los siguientes pasos: (a) proporcionar una carga de alimentación de ácidos grasos que comprende más que 1% en peso de ácidos grasos libres (FFA); (b) poner en contacto dicha carga de alimentación de ácidos grasos con una composición que comprende una esterasa y al menos un componente seleccionado del grupo que consiste en alcohol, alcohol y glicerol, alcohol y agua, alcohol y agua y glicerol para formar una mezcla; y (c) incubar la mezcla del paso (b) en condiciones que permitan que la esterasa catalice la esterificación de FFA hasta que los niveles de FFA se reduzcan, ya sea: i) por debajo del 10% en peso si a la reacción de esterificación enzimática le sigue un paso de neutralización; ii) por debajo de 2% en peso si a la reacción de esterificación enzimática le sigue una transesterificación catalizada por bases sin reducción ulterior de FFA; o iii) por debajo de 10% en peso, debajo de 5% en peso, tal como debajo de 2% en peso si al paso de esterificación c) no le sigue ni neutralización ni transesterificación catalizada por bases. Reivindicación 16: Un proceso para producir una mezcla cruda de biodiésel, dicho proceso comprende un pretratamiento enzimático de acuerdo con la reivindicación 1, y además comprende al menos un paso de separación de una fase liviana y pesada, y comprende al menos un paso de transesterificación catalizada por bases para producir la mezcla cruda de biodiésel que comprende éster alquilo. Reivindicación 18: Un proceso enzimático para producir un aceite adecuado como combustible para embarcaciones marítimas y/o como carga de alimentación oleosa para el ulterior procesamiento corriente abajo que no incluye transesterificación, que comprende los siguientes pasos: (a) proporcionar una carga de alimentación de ácidos grasos que comprende más que 1% en peso de ácidos grasos libres (FFA); (b) poner en contacto dicha carga de alimentación de ácidos grasos con una composición que comprende una esterasa y al menos un componente seleccionado del grupo que consiste en alcohol, alcohol y glicerol, alcohol y agua, alcohol y agua y glicerol para formar una mezcla; y (c) incubar la mezcla del paso (b) en condiciones que permitan que la esterasa catalice la esterificación de FFA hasta que los niveles de FFA se reduzcan, ya sea por debajo de 10% en peso, debajo de 5% en peso, tal como debajo de 2% en peso.
