Abstract
Un método para la producción, almacenamiento y descarga de petróleo en mar abierto que comprende recibir hidrocarburos de por lo menos uno de: una FPSO, tuberías ascendentes de producción, o un cabezal de pozo sobre el lecho marino en un casco flotante, procesar en el casco flotante los hidrocarburos recibidos que conforman el hidrocarburo producido, almacenar el hidrocarburo producido en el casco flotante, y descargar el hidrocarburo producido almacenado. El casco flotante contiene un casco cuya vista en planta es circular y donde dicho casco flotante tiene una superficie inferior, una superficie de cubierta superior, por lo menos tres secciones conectadas, unidas en serie y configurada simétricamente alrededor de un eje vertical, donde las secciones conectadas se extienden hacia abajo desde la superficie de cubierta superior hacia la superficie inferior. Las por lo menos tres secciones conectadas contienen una porción cilíndrica superior, una sección cónica inferior, una sección de cuello de forma cilíndrica, y un conjunto de aletas aseguradas al casco configuradas para proveer una acción hidrodinámica de amortiguación lineal y cuadrática.
