Abstract

Each chamber is separated from an oil pail separated as supernatant by a separation weir. Each chamber comprises an alternate fluid communication device between adjacent chambers that allows fluid communication between adjacent chambers in the form of a communication port in the dividing wall between adjacent chambers and a chamber outlet together with a perforated plate and the outlet is placed in fluid communication with the final chamber. An optional coalescing medium can be placed at or near the communication port to absorb or bind contaminants as they pass through.
