El proceso para producir carbonato de litio, a partir de una salmuera rica en Ca y Mg, comprende los pasos de: (i) filtración del salmuera rica en Ca y Mg, (ii) tratamiento del filtrado con ácido clorhídrico, (iii) extracción con solventes (SX), (iv) una primera purificación del filtrado, (v) una segunda purificación del filtrado, (vi) una tercera purificación del filtrado, (vii) reacción del filtrado con un carbonato de sodio sobresaturado, (viii) espesamiento y filtrado de la pulpa resultante obtenida al final del paso (vii) y (ix) lavado y secado del carbonato de litio. Also, the process for producing sodium borate from brine rich in Ca and Mg comprises the following steps of: (i) filtration of brine rich in Ca and Mg, (ii) treatment of the filtrate with hydrochloric acid, (iii) production of Na₂B₄O₇ by solvent extraction (SX) of the acidified brine obtained at the end of step (ii), (iv) reduction of the amount of water in the solution in order to achieve the saturated state obtained at the end of step (iii) using solar energy, (v) crystallization of the Na₂B₄O₇ produced in step (iii) in an evaporator using steam to heat the solution to evaporate water in the form of steam and crystallize Na₂B₄O₇, and (vi) crystallization of Na₂B₄O₇ by cooling (vii) recycling of the mother liquors in order to feed the evaporator used in step (v).
