Abstract
Los materiales compuestos de AIP comprenden un núcleo agregado de AIP, y una carcasa dispuesta parcial o completamente sobre el núcleo y formada a partir de un material de pigmento, por ej., TiO₂, que tiene un índice de refracción mayor que el núcleo, que proporciona un índice o refracción global mayor que el núcleo que es adecuado para uso como un reemplazo o extensor de pigmentos. El núcleo de AIP comprende AIP amorfo, AIP cristalino, o una combinación de los mismos, y puede tener un tamaño de partícula promedio menor que aproximadamente 30 mm. El TiO₂ puede tener un tamaño de grano promedio menor que aproximadamente 10 mm. La carcasa puede tener un espesor de capa que es de al menos aproximadamente 0,0001 mm. La carcasa se une al núcleo por una reacción entre grupos funcionales de la carcasa y el núcleo. El material compuesto de AIP puede manipularse para proporcionar propiedades además del brillo para uso como un pigmento tal como protección anticorrosiva y/o antimicrobiana.
