Abstract

En la presente se describen insertos lagrimales y sus métodos de uso para suministrar medicamentos en el ojo. El tapón incluye una porción de cuerpo que tiene un tamaño para pasar a través de un punto lagrimal y colocarse dentro de un canalículo lagrimal del párpado. El tapón podría contener un núcleo, o receptáculo, al menos parcialmente dentro de la porción del cuerpo; el núcleo comprende un agente terapéutico que se configura para la liberación controlada en el ojo y para la liberación de medicamentos a través de un puerto, una válvula o un orificio designado en el alojamiento del inserto; e inhibe la difusión de medicamentos a través del alojamiento.
