Abstract
Reivindicacion 1: Un método para preparar al menos un carbonato de amonio cuaternario tetra-alquil C1-20 o aril-alquilo sustituidos, que comprende: (a) la combinacion de al menos bromuro de amonio cuaternario tetra-alquil C1-20 o aril-alquilo sustituidos, un hidroxido de metal, y un solvente con una solubilidad menor a aproximadamente 1 gramo de bromuro de metal por 1000 gramos de solvente, dicho hidroxido de metal presente en un exceso estequiométrico en lo que se refiere al bromuro de amonio cuaternario para producir al menos un hidroxido de amonio cuaternario tetra-alquil C1-20 o aril-alquilo sustituidos; y (b) la combinacion de al menos hidroxido de amonio cuaternario tetra-alquil C1-20 o aril-alquilo sustituidos y dioxido de carbono para producir al menos un carbonato de amonio cuaternario tetra-alquil C1-20 o aril-alquilo sustituidos.Claim 1: A method for preparing at least one tetra-C1-20 alkyl quaternary ammonium carbonate or substituted aryl alkyl, comprising: (a) the combination of at least tetra-C1-20 alkyl quaternary ammonium bromide or aryl- substituted alkyl, a metal hydroxide, and a solvent with a solubility of less than about 1 gram of metal bromide per 1000 grams of solvent, said metal hydroxide present in a stoichiometric excess as far as quaternary ammonium bromide is concerned to produce at least one tetra-C1-20 alkyl quaternary ammonium hydroxide or substituted aryl alkyl; and (b) the combination of at least tetra-C1-20 alkyl quaternary ammonium hydroxide or substituted aryl alkyl and carbon dioxide to produce at least one tetra-C1-20 alkyl quaternary ammonium carbonate or substituted aryl alkyl.
