Abstract

La solicitud presenta composiciones de materia, métodos para su síntesis y métodos para su uso en reacciones de polimerizacion. Las composiciones incluyen iniciadores polifuncionales utilizados para la preparacion de polímeros en forma de estrella al polimerizarse con los monomeros. Los iniciadores polifuncionales se sintetizan de un nucleo multifuncional con por lo menos dos grupos funcionales y dos o más unidades de iniciador enlazadas a los grupos funcionales. Las unidades de iniciador tienen dos grupos captadores de electrones enlazados a un átomo de carbono central y un grupo azo entre el átomo de carbono central y el grupo funcional. Los iniciadores polifuncionales son particularmente eficaces, puesto que se descomponen para formar el nucleo radical de un polímero en forma de estrella, los grupos captadores de electrones impiden que el radical correspondiente forme ninguna contaminacion con polímeros lineales y solo se produzcan los polímeros en forma de estrella pretendidos.
