Abstract

La presente invención suministra un método para la producción biológica de n-butanol con alto rendimiento a partir de una fuente de carbono fermentable. En un aspecto de la presente invención, se logra un procedimiento para la conversión de glucosa a n-butanol mediante el uso de un organismo recombinante que comprende un huésped C. acetobutlicum transformado i) para eliminar la vía del butirato ii) para eliminar la vía de la acetona iii) para eliminar la vía del lactato y iv) para eliminar la vía del acetato. En otro aspecto de la presente invención, el flujo de hidrógeno se decrementa y el poder reductor se redirecciona a la producción de n-butanol al atenuar la expresión del gen de la hidrogenasa. Opcionalmente, el n-butanol producido puede ser eliminado durante la fermentación por stripping gaseoso y, a continuación, purificado por destilación.
