Abstract

La presente se refiere a un cable de telecomunicaciones equipado con al menos una fibra optica envuelta por una capa de revestimiento ajustado fabricada a partir de un material polimérico con un alargamiento de rotura igual o menor que un 100% y una resistencia a la rotura traccional igual o menor que 10 MPa. La combinacion de prestaciones mencionada anteriormente del material polimérico que forma la capa de revestimiento permite obtener una fibra optica que esté efectivamente protegida durante las operaciones de instalacion y durante el uso, y que, al mismo tiempo, pueda ser fácilmente pelada por el instalador sin utilizar ninguna herramienta de pelado, aplicando simplemente una pequena presion con las yemas de los dedos y una fuerza de desgarro moderada a lo largo del eje de fibra. El pelado puede lograrse en un paso, es decir, en una unica operacion de pelado, para una longitud suficiente como para hacer que la fibra optica sea accesible para las operaciones posteriores de union/empalme, por ejemplo, de unos pocos centímetros a aproximadamente 50 cm, sin esfuerzos significativos. Por otro lado, la configuracion ajustada de la capa de revestimiento asegura la congruencia pretendida entre la fibra optica y la capa de revestimiento a una distancia de aproximadamente 100 cm desde el extremo de la capa de revestimiento, En otras palabras, la fibra optica de acuerdo con la presente sustancialmente no es susceptible de ser pelada en un paso por encima de una longitud de aproximadamente 100 cm + - 30 cm.
