Abstract

La presente se refiere a una composicion de polietileno reticulable, un método para prepararla y artículos realizados a partir de dicha composicion. La composicion de polietileno reticulable de acuerdo con la presente incluye un componente de polietileno, un agente reticulante, y un coagente reticulante. El agente reticulante es un peroxido orgánico, y el coagente reticulante es un compuesto de alcadieno, alcatrieno o alcatetraeno, que comprende por lo menos dos dobles enlaces de carbono- carbono terminales. La composicion de polietileno reticulable puede incluir opcionalmente, un inhibidor de chamuscado, un estimulante de cura, un radical libre estable, uno o más aditivos convencionales, sus combinaciones y/o mezclas. El método para producir una composicion de polietileno reticulable de acuerdo con la presente incluye los siguientes pasos: (1) proveer un componente de polietileno; (2) proveer un agente reticulante, en donde el. agente reticulante es un peroxido orgánico; (3) proveer un coagente reticulante, en donde el coagente reticulante es un compuesto de alcadieno, alcatrieno o alcatetraeno que comprende por lo menos dos dobles enlaces de carbono-carbono terminales; (4) combinar por fusion el componente de polietileno, el agente reticulante, y el coagente reticulante a una temperatura en el rango inferior a la temperatura de descomposicion del agente reticulante; y (5) formar de ese modo la composicion de polietileno reticulable. El artículo de acuerdo con la presente incluye al producto reticulado de un componente de polietileno; un agente reticulante, en donde el agente reticulante es un peroxido orgánico; y un coagente reticulante, en donde el coagente reticulante es un compuesto de alcadieno, alcatrieno o alcatetraeno que comprende por lo menos dos dobles enlaces de carbono-carbono terminales.
