Abstract
La presente proporciona un proceso para extraer esteroles a partir de fibra de maíz hidrolizada termoquímicamente, con alto contenido en solidos, usando etanol como solvente de extraccion. El proceso comprende la obtencion de una suspension de fibra de maíz con un contenido de humedad de alrededor de 20% en peso a alrededor de 50% en peso de solidos (alto contenido en solidos), procesar termoquímicamente la suspension de fibra de maíz con un contenido elevado en solidos de 20 a 50% para producir una suspension de fibra de maíz hidrolizada, desecar la suspension de fibra de maíz hidrolizada para obtener una fibra de maíz residual con un contenido de humedad de alrededor de 30 a 80% en peso de solidos, lavar la fibra de maíz residual, desecar la suspension de fibra de maíz hidrolizada, lavada, para obtener una fibra de maíz residual con un contenido de humedad de alrededor de 30 a 80% en peso de solidos, y extraer la fibra de maíz residual con etanol y separar por lo menos un esterol.
