Abstract
Un gas ácido, como por ejemplo, dióxido de carbono, sulfuro de hidrógeno o una mezcla de los mismos, es eliminado de una corriente gaseosa mediante un proceso de absorción y separación. Mediante el reemplazo de un separador convencional empleado para regenerar el solvente acuoso y capturar el gas ácido con un separador de presiones múltiples, que combina la compresión del gas ácido con la separación, se reduce el consumo de energía. El separador de presiones múltiples es un instrumento de evaporación en varias etapas en el cual el flujo total de vapor de cada etapa se comprime y alimenta a la etapa anterior de evaporación a mayor presión. En este proceso, el calor del vapor de agua que sale de cada etapa se utiliza a una mayor presión en la etapa previa. El proceso de separación descrito genera el gas ácido a una presión mayor sin necesidad de elevar la temperatura del separador, con la consecuente reducción del consumo de energía del sistema.
