Abstract
Se describen aquí composiciones poliméricas con un índice de refracción relativamente alto, opticamente transparentes y dispositivos oftálmicos como lentes intraoculares e inserciones córneas hechos a partir de ellas. Las composiciones poliméricas preferibles se producen a través de la polimerización de uno o más copolímeros con uno o más monómeros hidrófilos y, opcionalmente, uno o más monómeros de base aromática, monómeros hidrófobos o una combinación de ellos. Reivindicación 1: Composiciones poliméricas que consisten en uno o más copolímeros de dos o más monómeros seleccionados del grupo que consiste en metacrilato de alquilo C1-10, acrilato de alquilo C1-10, acrilato de arilalquilo C6-40 y metacrilato de arilalquilo C6-40 polimerizado con uno o más monómeros hidrófilos y opcionalmente con uno o más monómeros seleccionados del grupo que consiste en monómeros de base aromática y monómeros hidrófobos para tener un contenido en agua superior a 4,5 % en peso, un índice de refracción de aproximadamente 1,45 o superior y una elongación de aproximadamente 80 % o superior.
