Abstract

Se proveen métodos para crear y aumentar la resistencia a insectos en las plantas. Los métodos comprenden introducir en forma estable en una planta una combinacion de polinucleotidos que comprenden una secuencia que codifica un polipéptido de lipasa con actividad insecticida y una secuencia que codifica una proteína Bt insecticida, y cada una de dichas secuencias codificantes está unida operativamente a un promotor que provoca la expresion en una célula de la planta. También se proveen plantas con mayor resistencia a insectos y semillas de las mismas. Dichos métodos se pueden usar en diversos sistemas agrícolas para controlar plagas de insectos, entre ellos la propagacion de líneas de cultivos resistentes a insectos y el direccionamiento de la coexpresion de la lipasa insecticida y de la proteína insecticida Bt hacia organos de la planta que son particularmente susceptibles a la infestacion.
