Abstract

Producción de anhídrido sulfuroso mediante la combustión de azufre con oxígeno puro, en un sistema cerrado que produce un alto rendimiento en la recuperación del SO2 y reduce la contaminación ambiental a niveles inferiores a los exigidos por las normativas. La producción de anhídrido sulfuroso se obtiene quemando azufre con oxígeno puro diluido en gas de combustión recirculado, previamente enfriado, con el fin de mantener la combustión a menos de 1200sC. La mezcla gaseosa así obtenida, estaría compuesta por aproximadamente 16% V/V oxígeno y 84 % V/V de SO2, porcentaje este último que hace muy fácil licuar el SO2, de forma que a -10sC se alcanzaría una eficiencia de recuperación de 95% de SO2. El gas no licuado se recircula en el sistema cerrado. El SO2, contenido en el gas de 84 % V/V del mismo incluso podría licuarse a 20sC, a 5 bar, aumentándose aún más la eficiencia del sistema.
