Abstract
Se usan marcadores fenotípicos en semillas o plantas para permitir la deteccion cualitativa de un carácter registrado en el producto cosechado, efectuar un cálculo cuantitativo de la cantidad del carácter presente, y facilitar el cálculo y la recaudacion de regalías a pagar por dicho carácter. Los marcadores fenotípicos de las semillas pueden ser el color de recubrimiento de semillas, y dichas semillas pueden ser homocigotas o heterocigotas para la diferencia fenotípica en el color de recubrimiento de semillas. Los cultivares comerciales de semillas con la diferencia fenotípica en el color de la semilla pueden cultivarse de modo de que incluyan varios colores de semillas. Pueden evaluarse las regalías a pagar por el carácter en todos los granos con el carácter registrado, puede evaluarse si el grano fue producido a partir de semillas compradas o a partir de semillas guardadas de una cosecha previa.
