Abstract

Nuevo método de producción de granos de maíz con una funcionalidad deseable que comprende la siembra de dos híbridos de maíz diferentes dentro de un mismo campo. Los dos híbridos de maíz se siembran en bloques de filas alternantes. Un híbrido es masculino estéril de modo tal que el segundo híbrido provee el polen para todo el campo. Esto permite lograr bloques de dos tipos de granos separados que se pueden cosechar y procesar por separado. Reivindicación 1: Un método de siembra, caracterizado porque comprende los pasos de: (a) sembrar dos híbridos en bloques de filas, donde: (1) el primer híbrido es una semilla de maíz masculino fértil que es homocigota recesivo para dos características deseadas; y (2)el segundo híbrido es una semilla de maíz masculino estéril que es homocigota recesivo para una de las dos característica deseada y homocigota dominante para la otra características deseada; (b) permitir que las plantas de maíz masculinas fértiles polinicen dichas plantas de maíz masculinas estériles; y (c) cosechar las semillas de maíz resultantes de los dos híbridos por separado.
