Abstract
Una lente intraocular refractaria incluyendo una porción óptica que tiene un borde periférico exterior y dos o más pero preferiblemente dos, tres o cuatro elementos hápticos espaciados a igual distancia. Cada elemento háptico es de forma trapezoidal análoga que varía de forma fluida para lograr un aspecto "en forma de hélice". Cada elemento háptico se fabrica también de manera que tenga una porción interior con una cartela y una porción exterior con un botón de contacto para soportar la porción óptica en el ojo de un paciente. La porción interior de cada elemento háptico está conectada permanentemente al borde periférico exterior de la porción óptica. Cada háptico se forma de manera que tenga un perfil relativamente bajo y una mayor resistencia a la curvatura en un plano generalmente paralelo a un eje óptico del ojo que en un plano generalmente perpendicular al eje óptico del ojo. La lente intraocular está disenada de manera que exhiba menos de aproximadamente 1,0 mm de desplazamiento axial de la porción óptica a lo largo del eje óptico del ojo bajo una fuerza de compresión adecuada para efectuar una compresión de 1,0 mm de diámetro de la lente intraocular.
