Abstract

Las películas, fibras y artículos de la invención incluyen una mezcla novedosa de un polímero que responde al agua y un polímero no soluble en agua. De esta mezcla se obtiene películas, fibras y artículos estables en el medio ambiente, debilitables en el agua y con capacidad para respirar, que demuestran una resistencia y estabilidad mejorada cuando son expuestos a humedad aumentada y temperaturas elevadas. Los métodos de la invención incluyen: mezclar los componentes de polímero para formar una mezcla; extruir, enfriar y granular la mezcla; y extruir los gránulos en una película o fibra. Las películas, fibras, artículos y métodos de la invención pueden ser útiles para la fabricación de productos que requieren ser desechados, entre los que se incluyen sin carácter limitativo; artículos para la higiene personal, panales, calzoncillos de aprendizaje, productos para la higiene de la mujer, productos para la incontinencia del adulto, prendas para los hospitales, productos para el cuidado de heridas, sábanas para camas de hospitales, telas quirúrgicas y similares. Reivindicación 1: Una película ambientalmente estable, que se debilita en agua, con capacidad para respirar caracterizada porque comprende una mezcla de polímero que comprende un polímero que responde al agua y una resina sintética termoplástica; en donde el polímero que responde al agua es óxido de polietileno u óxido de polietileno modificado.
