Abstract
Se refiere a una disposición del ánodo para la utilización en una célula de electrólisis para la producción de metal de aluminio a partir de un componente que contiene aluminio en un electrolito de sal fundida, en el cual, el componente que contiene aluminio está integrado principalmente por alúmina y el electrolito de la sal fundida se basa en mezclas de NaF y AlF3 y CaF2 y en lo posible, haluros alcalinos y haluros de tierra alcalinos. Más específicamente, la misma se refiere a las mejoras de los ánodos útiles para la modificación retroactiva de las células de electrólisis existentes, en las cuales, los ánodos permanecen inertes durante la operación. El ánodo está caracterizado por estar formado de modo de incrementar el área de su superficie electro activa. Se muestran diversos ejemplos de los mencionados disenos. El ánodo es útil para la utilización en la modificación retroactiva de las células de electrólisis existentes del diseno Hall Héroult para la producción de aluminio.
