Abstract

Cuando un abonado llama a su Proveedor de servicio de Internet (ISP), una oficina central que recibe la llamada se dispara para realizar una consulta sobrePortabilidad de numero local (LNP). Esta consulta LNP se envía a una unidad de Encaminamientod e tráfico y control inteligente (INTRAC) residente en un Puntode control de servicio (SCP)que determina si la llamada es a un ISP. Si la llamada es a un ISP, la unidad INTRAC consulta a un servidor del Servicio de usuariode discado paraautenticacion remota (RADIUS) con el objeto de determinar si hay recursos disponibles. El servidor RADIUS rastrea los recursos del ISP y de losdemás ISP e informa al SCP acerca de los recursos disponibles. El SCP entonces inserta el Numero deencaminamiento local (LRN) del recurso preferido en unarespuesta que se envía a la oficina central. Si no hay recursos disponibles, se da por terminada la llamada antes de que se produzca la senalizacion concualquier conmutador asociado con el ISP.Por el contrario, cua ndo hay recursos disponibles, se puede dirigir al abonado al recurso preferido para él. Porejemplo, se puede dirigir al abonado a un servidor de acceso dentro del ISP que tenga exceso de capacidad o se lo puede dirigir a unservidor de acceso quepres te el mejor servicio al abonado, razon por la cual los abonados se pueden dirigir al tipo de servicio X2, si tienen un modem X2, o al tipo de servicioK56Flex, si tiene un modem K56Flex. Como otro ejemplo, si un ISP está enel máximo de su capacidad, se puede dirigir al abonado a un segundo ISP de respaldo.
