Abstract

El procedimiento de acuerdo con la invencion evita una transferencia de organismos perjudiciales del zooplancton incluida su epifauna y del fitoplanctonincluidos sus estadios permanentes, que son admitidos con el agua de lastre de buques y setransfi eren al descargar esta en otro lugar. De acuerdo con lainvencion los organismos son exterminados esencialmente mediante adiccion al agua de lastre de un agente que contiene un ácido percarboxílico soluble en aguacon 1 a 6 átomos de carbono,especialm ente una solucion conteniendo ácido peracético y/o ácido performico y peroxido de hidrogeno, en una cantidad de 0,1 a 200mg de ácido percarboxílico por 1 de agua de lastre, permitiendo que este actué antes de la descarga. De acuerdo conuna forma de realizacion preferida seagrega además del ácido carboxílico un cianuro al agua de lastre.
