Abstract
Un aparato y método para determinar una característica, tal como la rigidez de un tronco, tallo, pieza de madera u otro espécimen de madera. Un generador de onda 102 produce una senal de frecuencia variable la cual acciona un transductor 103 que está acoplado al espécimen para otorgar una onda acustica de frecuencia variable dentro del espécimen. Un censor receptor 105 detecta la onda acustica resultante y un censor transmisor detecta el envío desde el transductor 103. Una respuesta característica 109 del espécimen es determinada desde la senal del sensor receptor, la senal del censor transmisor y la senal de excitacion utilizan procesamiento de senal digital 107 y análogo 106. La característica 108 es determinada a partir de la respuesta característica 109.
