Abstract

Un método de controlar la corrosion de metales ferrosos que entran en contacto con un sistema acuoso a un pH de 6 o mayor que comprende introducir en dichosistema acuoso con la formula 1 donde R1, R2 y R3 se seleccionan a partir del grupo que comprende alquilo inferior, arilo, aralquilo y arilo con substitucionheterocíclica, siempre que ninguno de R1, R2, o R3 contenga más de 14 átomos de carbono; y n es 1 o 2. Dicho compuesto es agregado al sistema acuoso a nivelesde tratamiento activo que varían de 0,1 a 50 partes por millon y puede adicionarse tanto en forma continua como intermitente. El compuesto puede comprender almenos uno de: cloruro de 3,3-(3,3-dimetoxi-4,4-bifenilén)-bis-[2-(p-nitrofenil)-5-fenil-2H-tetrazolio]; cloruro de 2-(4-yodofenil)-3-(4-nitrofenil)-5-fenil-tetrazolio; cloruro de 2,5-difenil-3-(1-naftil)-2H-tetrazolio; y cloruro de 2,3,5-trifenil-2H-tetrazolio. Dicho sistema acuoso puede ser un sistema deenfriamiento a agua, un sistema generador de vapor, un sistema delavado de gases o un sistema para la fabricacion de pulpa y de papel. El metal ferrosopreferentemente es acero.
