Abstract
Se provee un proceso para la produccion selectiva de para-xileno que comprende hacer reaccionar tolueno con metanol en presencia de un catalizadorque comprende un material cristalino poroso que tiene un parámetro de difusion para 2,2dimetilb utano de alrededor de 0,1-15 (1/seg) cuando se lo mide a unatemperatura de 120°C y una presion de 2,2 dimetilbutano de 60 torr (8 kPa). El material cristalino poroso es preferiblemente una zeolita de poros medianos,particularmente ZSM-5que ha sido tratada severamente con vapor a una temperatura de por lo menos 950°C. El material cristalino poroso espreferiblemente combinado con por lo menos un modificador de oxido, que preferiblemente combinado con por lo menosun modificador de oxido, quepreferiblemente incluye fosforo para controlar la reduccion del volumen microcorporal del material durante el tratamiento con vapor.
