Abstract
La invención se refiere a una disposición celular de comunicaciones y a un método y aparato para la transferencia de una llamada desde una estaciónbase a otra en un sistema de comunicaciones inalámbricas (handoff), es decir desde un sistemade tipo acceso múltiple por división de código CDMA) en elcual se utiliza una senal piloto, a un sistema basado en una técnica de acceso alternativo. Se agrega un conjunto sencillo de circuitos de caja de piloto, aun conjunto fronterizo deestaciones de base. Las estaciones de base fronterizas son estaciones de base que operan solamente en la técnica de accesoalternativo, y que tienen áreas de cobertura que son contiguas con las áreas de cobertura de las estaciones de baseque operan e n CDMA. La unidad móvilmonitorea para la senal piloto procedente de las estaciones de base fronterizas, de la misma manera en que monitorea para las senales pilotoprocedentes de las estaciones de base que operan en CDMA.Cuando la unidad móvil detecta la senal piloto correspondiente a un sistema de estación de base,notifica a un control del sistema de acuerdo con la operación standard. El controlador del sistema está conciente que la senal piloto corresponde aunaestación d e base fronteriza y por lo tanto reacciona disparando un proceso de handoff duro hacia el sistema basado en la técnica de acceso alternativo. Lasestaciones de base fronterizas utilizan una técnica de duplex de división de tiempo,para miniaturiz ar una secuencia de piloto y sincronización a partir deuna estación de base vecina perteneciente a las estaciones de base que operan en CDMA, obteniéndose una estimación del tiempo absoluto del sistema.
