Abstract
Un método para producir un producto de óxido bórico amorfo que tiene 80 a 90% de B2O3 que comprende calentar ácido bórico a temperaturas elevadas del80°C a 220°C para deshidratar el ácido bórico y formar un vidrio fundido que se enfría hasta unproducto vítreo sólido. El vítreo sólido puede triturarsepara producir un producto en partículas. Preferentemenete, el ácido bórico se calienta entre 195° y 205°C. El procedimiento se adapta fácilmente a unprocedimiento contínuo en el que el ácidobórico es alimentado continuamente a través de un reactor-mezclador caliente tal como un mezclador Kneadermaster oun mezclador Discotherm. El producto vítreo fundido se enfría para formar un producto vítreo sólido que puede triturarse hasta unagama de tamano departícula deseable. La invención incluye el producto resultante del método.
