Abstract
Se presenta un método para la regeneracion de plantas in vitro en el cual se escinden y cultivan células del tejido de la region de transicion. El tejidode la region de transicion de los brotes de algodon se extiende desde la porcion superior de la raíz hasta la region del hipocotilo. Las célulastransformadas son regeneradas en plantas transformadas de manera homogénea por medio de embriogénesis somática en medio sin hormonas. También se describe unmétodo para la produccion de plantastransgénicas de Gossypium con capacidad para transmitir un gen extrano a la progenie, en el cual las células derivadasdel método aumenta el numero de genotipos de algodon diferentes que se pueden utilizar para obtener plantas transformadas de manera estable con capacidadpara transmitir el gen extrano a la progenie.
