Abstract
Un procedimiento para la obtención de un empalme mecánico de fibra óptica que no emplea ningún material de gel con un índice de refracciónadecuado, en donde los extremos de la fibra están preparados para un contacto íntimo de compresión axial y las caras extremas de la fibra semantienen en el elemento de empalme en contacto íntimo ópticamente alineado bajo compresión axial, como resultado de un calentamiento, deformaciónelástica o deformación plástica del elemento de empalme.
