Abstract

El proceso consiste en hacer reaccionar un poliéter con un dioldiéster en presencia de un catalizador que favorezca la inseción al azar del diéster enlas ligaduras carbono - oxígeno del poliéter para producir la resina de polieteréster. The process offers several advantages, including higher resin yields, decreased by-product production, and the ability to obtain low-color, low-acid resins. The resins are useful for making thermosetting polyester products. It also relates to a process for making a polyether ester thermoset product which comprises reacting the polyether ester resin with a vinyl monomer in the presence of a radical initiator and hardening to obtain the thermosetting product. Another object relates to a diester diol comprising the reaction product of 2 moles of a cyclic anhydride and one mole of 2-methyl-1,3-propanediol to be used in the process of making polyetherster resins.
