Abstract

The present invention concerns high heeled shoe 510, 710, 810, 910, 1010, 1110, 1210, comprising: an insole 126,1218; at least one recess 1222, 2026, 2034 in an upper surface of the insole 126,1218; an outer cushioning layer 927, 1122, 1212, 2610 adjacent the upper surface of the insole 126,1218; a central cushioning layer 1214 adjacent to the outer cushioning layer 927, 1122, 1212, 2610 and adapted to be received by at least one of: the at least one recess of the insole and a further recess formed by the outer cushioning layer 927, 1122, 1212, 2610 within at least one recess of the insole; a high heel 130 attached to a bottom surface of the insole 126,1218; and an upper attached to the insole 126,1218 to aid in securing a foot to the shoe 510, 710, 810, 910, 1010, 1110, 1210; wherein the central cushioning layer 1214 at least engages with one or more corresponding anatomical features of a sole of the foot to aid in securing the foot to the shoe 510, 710, 810, 910, 1010, 1110, 1210, and wherein a rise 712,714, 816 or a ridge 2020, 2022 from the periphery of the recess of the insole 1218 is under the cushioning layers 1214.
