Abstract

A digital video camera (or camcorder) (10) which includes a housing, a lens, a data storage medium, an image sensor, a video encoder, a microprocessor, a microphone, a manually operable switch and a switch activator. The manually operable switch (80) covers a microphone (90) whenever the switch (80) is in the OFF position, and in the ON position initiates video and audio capture. The switch activator is embodied by “quick-release” mounting system (120) which retains a desired orientation of the camera (10).
