Abstract

Disclosed herein is a method comprising: separating a lignocellulosic resource into a substantially cellulosic portion and a substantially non-cellulosic portion; and fermenting the substantially cellulosic portion to produce microbial oil; pyrolyzing the substantially non-cellulosic portions to produce bio-oil or fermenting the substantially cellulosic portion to produce microbial oil and pyrolyzing the substantially non-cellulosic portion to produce bio-oil.
