Abstract

The invention relates to a lid (1) comprising a tubular skirt (12) including a non-removable portion (122) permanently retained about a container neck (2) and a removable portion (121) attached in a removable manner to the neck. The non-removable and removable skirt portions are connected by a break line (20) which is breakable the first time the lid is opened. A breaking segment (28), which is delimited distinctly from the break line, is also provided to define a strand (32) therebetween. The strand has two peripheral ends (32A, 32B) and is connected to the non-removable skirt portion through a bridge (26). During first opening of the lid the break line is broken to separate the removable and non-removable portions from each other and the strand plastically deforms to provide a visual indicator of tampering. After plastic deformation the strand will subsequently fail and break at either the peripheral ends or at the bridge.
