Abstract

The thermoplastics pipe comprises an inner pipe of high density polyethylene with a long term strength of greater than 8 N/mm<2> and a cover layer of crosslinked polyethylene and has a total wall thickness and an internal pressure resistance identical with those of a single layer standard pipe of long term strength ≤ 8 N/mm<2>. Preferably, the cover layer contains an additive having a diffusion barrier effect, preferably 10-80 wt.% of a polyamide or 3-10 wt.% of metallic micro-lamellae.
