4-Oksoimidazoliniumsalte: med den generelle forme!. hvori Rog Renten uavhengig av hverandre betyr C_-aikyl, C-io-alkenyl, C.i_7-cyk!oalk>'l eller eventuelt substituiert aryl, arylalkyl, heteroary! eller heteroarylalkyl, eller Rog Rsammen med karbonatomet som forbinder dem danner en tre- til syv-leddet mettet eller umettet karbocyklisk eller heterocyklisk ring, Ren C-alkylgruppe, C--alkenylgruppe, C--cykloalkylgruppe, arylgruppe, arylalkylgruppe eller heteroarylgruppe og A" er et anion av en sterk syre, fremstilles ved cyklisering av et a-acylamino-nitril i et ikke-vandig løsningsmiddel i nærvær en lavere alkohol og en sterk syre. Forbindelseene er mellomprodukter for farmasøytiske virkestoffer som for eksempel Angiotensin II-antagonister.
