Abstract

New metallic powders are disclosed, in particular zinc powders, whose surface is treated with non-ionic emulsifiers. The surface-treated metallic powders are produced by blending mixtures of metallic powders and solvents with non-ionic emulsifiers, by removing the solvents and by drying the thus obtained surface-treated metallic powders. The surface-treated metallic powders are used in aqueous coating compositions, in particular aqueous coating compositions that contain organosilicic compounds.
