Abstract
New hot bituminous coating for road surfaces (I) comprises gravel and a bituminous binder (II) modified by polymers (III), including PE. Also claimed is a road surface prepared by applying 2-8 cm of (I) containing gravel of different sizes. Also claimed is a foundation layer for a road surface prepared by applying 6-16 cm of (I) containing gravel of just one size. Also claimed is a method (IV) of preparing (I) comprising heating the gravel and (III) to the coating temperature, mixing the gravel and (III) and adding PE during the mixing stage. Also claimed is a method of laying a road surface comprising the application of (I) prepared according to (IV) followed by compaction. Preferably the PE is a low-density linear PE. (III) are elastomeric copolymers (styrene-butadiene-styrene copolymers preferred). The PE is added in thermofusible packets or by a dosing nozzle. The coating temperature is 150-190 degrees C.
