Description
Oppfinnelsen angår en ny smøremiddelformulering for anvendelse på arbeidsstykker ved varmbearbeiding av metaller, spesielt for anvendelse ved varmvalsing av blokker og profiler eller ved fremstilling av hulblokker i såkalte fotbenkanlegg (tysk: Stossbankanlagen).
Det faktum at de metaller som skal bearbeides oppviser en overflatetemperatur fra ca. 800°C til 1300°C, gjør at man i praksis inntil nå har konsentrert seg om smøringen av verktøy som med temperaturer på maksimalt 400°C er bedre tilgjengelig for den klassiske smøring.
Selv om det i teknikkens stand, f.eks. i CH-PS 660 023, beskrives at arbeidsstykker også kan behandles med den der nevnte smøremiddeldispersjon med temperaturer på over 600°C, viser praksis-sammenligning ingen dannelse av en virksom, fastsittende smøremiddelfilm ved temperaturer i området fra 800°C til 1300°C. Den manglende tilhefting forårsakes vesentlig av den umiddelbare pyrolyse av de organiske bestanddeler som umuliggjør en tilklebing av filmen. Pyrolysen av de organiske bestanddeler med den dermed forbundne røkut-vikling er dessuten svært ubehagelig for arbeidsmiljøet. En dannelse av en smøremiddelfilm kunne heller ikke fastslås i praksistest med de i pulverform anvendte formuløeringer av smøremiddel/fuktemiddel (tysk: Beizmittel) fra CH-PS 670 106. Jevn påføring av en pulverblanding utgjør i seg selv i dette tilfelle en betydelig vanskelighet.
Også smøringen av verktøyet er alt etter verktøytype forbundet med forskjellige vanskeligheter. Påføringen av smøremidlet er således ofte vanskelig på grunn av verktøyets geometri, eller lave verktøytemperaturer rundt 100°C tilla-ter ingen virkelig dannelse av en smøremiddelfilm. På grunn av at verktøyet vedvarende behandles med store mengder kjølevann, er dessuten store tap av smøremiddel vanlig, noe som fører til forurensning av avløpsvannet, og det må gjen-nomføres en egnet etterbehandling av dette avløpsvann. For en god smøring er det derfor nødvendig med relativt store mengder smøremiddel.
Det var følgelig en oppgave å utvikle en smøremiddel-formulering som ikke oppviser de nevnte ulemper og derfor er egnet til å forsyne arbeidsstykker med overflatetemperaturer fra 800 til 1300°C med en ensartet, godt vedheftende smøre-middelf ilm som ikke er løselig i vann.
Oppgaven kunne løses med de nye smøremiddelformulerin-ger ifølge patentkrav 1, og som består av: a) 0-80 vekt% av et glasspulver og/eller 0-50 vekt% av en glassfritte; b) 10-25 vekt% naturlig eller syntetisk grafitt; c) 5-20 vekt% av ett eller flere alkalisilikater med den generelle formel Me20 n Si02»hvor Me betyr litium,
kalium eller natrium og n er én tallverdi mellom 1 og
4;
d) 1-6 vekt% av et vannløselig natriumpolymetaf osf at
e) 0-3 vekt% av et vannuløselig natriumpolymetafosfat; f) 0,5-3 vekt% av et fortykningsmiddel;
g) 0-1 vekt% boraks.
For anvendelse på arbeidsstykker med overflatetemperaturer over 800°C anvendes fortrinnsvis en smøremiddelformu-lering som/består av: a) 0-20 vekt% av et glasspulver og/eller 30-50 vekt% av en glassfritte; b) 20-25 vekt% naturlig eller syntetisk grafitt; c)7-20 vekt% av ett eller flere alkalisilikater med den generelle formel Me20 n Si02»hvor Me betyr litium, kalium eller natrium og n er en tallverdi mellom 1 og 4; d) 2-6 vekt% av et vannløselig natriumpolymetafosfat; e) 0-1 vekt% av et vannuløselig natriumpolymetafosfat; f) 3-4 vekt% av et f ortykningsmiddel ,■
g) 0,2-0,7 vekt% boraks.
For anvendelse på arbeidsstykker med overflatetemperaturer over 1000°C anvendes fortrinnsvis en smøremiddel-formulering som består av: a) 45-70 vekt% av et glasspulver og/eller 0-20 vekt% av en glassfritte; b) 20-25 vekt% naturlig eller syntetisk grafitt; c) 7-20 vekt% av ett eller flere alkalisilikater med den generelle formel Me20 n Si02»hvor Me betyr litium, kalium eller natrium og n er en tallverdi mellom 1 og 4; d) 1-2 vekt% av et vannløselig natriumpolymetafosfat; e) 0-1 vekt% av et vannuløselig natriumpolymetafosfat; f) 1,5-2 vekt% av et fortykningsmiddel ;
g) 0-0,25 vekt% bbraks.
Som glasspulver er det hensiktsmessig å anvende et nor-malglass med en gjennomsnittlig korndiameter d5g på <100^m og et mykningsområde fra ca. 700°C til 900°C (CAS nr. 65997-17-3). Glasspulveret er i høy grad ansvarlig for smøremid-lets utmerkede filmegenskaper. På grunn av det relativt høye mykningspunkt anvendes det i økende mengde dersom arbeids-stykkets overflatetemperatur overstiger grensen på 1000°C.
I motsetning til dette finner glassfritten fremfor alt anvendelse dersom anvendelestemperaturene ligger i det nedre område fra ca. 800°C.
Ettersom glassfritten har et mykningsområde fra ca. 500°C til 700°C som er lavere enn mykningsområdet for glasspulveret, utnyttes glassfrittens filmdannende egenskaper fullt ut. Glassfritten har hensiktsmessig en kjemisk sam-mensetning som er et alkali/jordalkali/alumo/bor-silikat, og anvendes vanligvis med en gjennomsnittlig kornstørrelse d50på <100//m.
Glasspulver og glassfritte kan alt etter anvendelse anvendes i hvilke som helst blandingsforhold innenfor de angitte grenser.
En ytterligere bestanddel utgjøres av grafitt. Det kan anvendes, så vel en syntetisk grafitt som også en naturgra-fitt. Det er hensiktsmessig at den gjennomsnittlige korn-størrelse d5g i den grafitt som anvendes er mindre enn 100 fim. Det er fordelaktig dersom det anvendes en grafitt med høy krystallinitet, dvs. med en krystalittlengdeLc større enn 100 nm.
Vannløselige alkalisilikater har en vesentlig funksjon som bindemidler. Det anvendes vannløselige alkalisilikater, enkeltvis eller i blanding, med den generelle formel
Me2n Si02
hvor Me betyr litium, kalium eller natrium, og n er en tallverdi mellom 1 og 4. Fortrinnsvis anvendes et natriumsilikat med den nevnte generelle formel med n = 1-1,5 eller et
natriumsilikat med n = 3,3-3,5 (vannglass) eller en eutek-tisk blanding av de nevnte natriumsilikater med et kaliumsi-likat med den generelle formel K20 n Si02, hvor n står for 2,4-3, og/eller et litiumsilikat med den generelle formel Li20 n Si02, hvor n står for 2,4-3.
Spesielt foretrukket anvendes en blanding av de nevnte foretrukne alkalisilikater i et forhold natriumsilikat:ka-liumsilikat:litiumsilikat på12,3% : 67,5% : 20,7%.
Som smøremiddel-bestanddel som undertrykker skumdannel-sen anvendes et vannløselig natriummetapolyfosfat. For dette formål er det hensiktsmessig å anvende en forbindelse med den generelle formel (NaP03)n, hvor n er mindre enn 450. Disse forbindelser er også kjent under betegnelsen "heksa-metafosfat" eller "Grahams salt".
Som bindemiddel er det desssuten mulig å tilsette et vannuløselig natriummetapolyfosfat. Spesielt egnet for dette formål er de forbindelser som er kjent under navnet "Maddrells' salt", og som har den generelle formel (NaP03)n, hvor n er 40 til 70.
Tilsetning av et fortykningsmiddel, som hensiktsmessig er et polysakkarid eller et polysakkarid-derivat, er avgjø-rende for å sikre en konstant viskositet og stabilitet for smøremiddeldispersjonen over et vidt temperaturområde, samt for å forhindre sedimentering av faststoff-andelene i dispersjonen. Det er hensiktsmessig å anvende biopolysakkari-der, så som xantan-gummi, rhamsan-gummi eller en alkylcellulose, så som hydroksymetylcellulose.
Med tilsvarende resultat kan det som fortykningsmiddel anvendes alkalisalter av polyakrylsyre, spesielt natrium-polyakrylater.
For å forhindre bakteriangrep er det hensiktsmessig å tilsette et biocid av vanlig handelstype til smøremiddel-formuleringen.
Til sist er det som klebeformidler mulig å tilsette boraks (natriumtetraborat-dekahydrat).
Det er hensiktsmessig å anvende smøremidlet ifølge oppfinnelsen i form av en vandig dispersjon med en faststoff -andel som fortrinnsvis er 20-50%. Det er uten videre mulig å variere grensene oppover og nedover. Fremstillingen av dispersjonen kan finne sted i dispergeringsapparater av vanlig handelstype som muliggjør høye skjærkrefter (se f.eks. EP-PS 218 989).
Dispersjonen som er klargjort for anvendelse oppviser fortrinnsvis en viskositet i området fra 1000 mPa-s til 7000 mPa-s (Rheomat 15, 20°C, celle B, hastighet 5), men den kan varieres ytterligere ved tilsetning av fortykningsmidler.
Påføringen av smøremiddeldispersjonen kan finne sted ved hjelp av kjente systemer for spraying av disperse systemer (se f.eks. EP-A 453 801).
Ifølge oppfinnelsen anvendes den i det foregående beskrevne smøremiddelformulering for arbeidsstykker som oppviser overflatetemperaturer fra 800°C til 1300°C, ved varmbearbeiding av metaller, spesielt ved varmvalsing av blokker og profiler eller ved fremstilling av hulblokker i såkalte fotbenkanlegg. Påføringen av dispersjonen på arbeidsstykket finner sted umiddelbart før omformingen. En på forhånd gjennomført dekapering av arbeidsstykket er fordelaktig, men ikke tvingende nødvendig. Etter den øyeblikkelige fordamping av vannet danner det seg i løpet av få sekunder på overflaten av arbeidsstykket en ensartet, vannuløselig smørefilm, som ikke påvirkes av den etterfølgende bearbei-dingsprosedyre.

På den 800-1050°C varme overflate på en vertikalstål-blokk, som beveges med 1,5 m/s og med mål 29 cm x 6 cm x 3 cm, sprayes gjennom en dyse som befinner seg i en avstand på 43 cm (ved et trykk på 50 bar) formuleringene 1-4, samt sammenligningsformulering 1. Sammenligningsformulering 2 sprayes tørr i henhold til CH-PS 670 106. Den dannede smøre-middelf ilm bedømmes ifølge de følgende klasseringer.
Klasse 1
Ingen dannelse av en smøremiddelfilm.
Klasse 2
Dannelse av en sprø smøremiddelfilm med tilhefting som bare varte kort tid (få sekunder).
Klasse 3
Øyeblikkelig dannelse av en ensartet, glasurlignende, godt tilheftende smøremiddelfilm med høy mekanisk bestandig-het og god vannbestandighet.

Claims (12)
1. Smøremiddelformulering for anvendelse på arbeidsstykker ved varmbearbeiding av metaller,
karakterisert ved at den består av a) 0-80 vekt% av et glasspulver og/eller 0-50 vekt% av en glassfritte;
b) 10-25 vekt% naturlig eller syntetisk grafitt;
c) 5-20 vekt% av ett eller flere alkalisilikater med den generelle formel Me2 0 n Si02, hvor Me betyr litium, kalium eller natrium og n betyr en tallverdi mellom 1 og 4;
d) 1-6 vekt% av et vannløselig natriumpolymetafosfat;
e) 0-3 vekt% av et vannuløselig natriumpolymetafosfat;
f) 0,5-3 vekt% av et fortykningsmiddel;
g) 0-1 vekt% boraks.
2. Smøremiddelformulering ifølge krav 1, karakterisert ved at det anvendes et glasspulver som oppviser en gjennomsnittlig korndiameter d^ Q på <100/ xm og et mykningsområde fra ca. 700 til 900°C.
3. Smøremiddelformulering ifølge krav 1 eller 2, karakterisert ved at det anvendes en glassfritte som oppviser en gjennomsnittlig korndiameter d$ Q på <100/ xm og et mykningsområde fra ca. 500°C til 700°C.
4. Smøremiddelformulering ifølge krav1 -3, karakterisert ved at det anvendes vannløse-lige alkalisilikater, enkeltvis eller i blanding, med den generelle formel Me2 0 n Si02 , hvor Me betyr litium, kalium eller natrium og n betyr en tallverdi mellom 1 og 4.
5. Smøremiddelformulering ifølge krav1 -4 , karakterisert ved at det som vannløselig natriumpolymetafosfat anvendes et Grahams salt med den generelle formel (NaPC>3 )n , hvor n er mindre enn 450.
6. Smøremiddelformulering ifølge krav 1-5, karakterisert ved at det som vannuløselig natriumpolymetafofat anvendes et Maddrells' salt med den generelle formel (NaP03 )n , hvor n er 40-70.
7. Smøremiddelformulering ifølge krav 1-6, karakterisert ved at det som fortykningsmiddel anvendes et polysakkarid, et polysakkarid-derivat eller et alkalisalt av et polyakrylat.
8. Smøremiddelformulering ifølge krav 1-7, karakterisert ved at den er i form av en vandig dispersjon.
9. Smøremiddelformulering ifølge krav 1-8, karakterisert ved at den er i form av en vandig dispersjon med et faststoffinnhold på 20-50%.
10. Smøremiddelformulering ifølge krav 1-9 for anvendelse på arbeidsstykker med overflatetemperaturer fra 800°C, karakterisert ved at den består av
a) 0-20 vekt% av et glasspulver og/eller 30-50 vekt% av en glassf ritte,-
b) 20-25 vekt% naturlig eller syntetisk grafitt;
c) 7-20 vekt% av ett eller flere alkalisilikater med den
generelle formel Me2 0 n Si02 , hvor Me betyr litium, kalium eller natrium og n betyr en tallverdi mellom 1
og 4;
d) 2-6 vekt% av et vannløselig natriumpolymetafosfat;
e) 0-1 vekt% av et vannuløselig natriumpolymetafosfat;
f) 3-4 vekt% av et fortykningsmiddel;
g) 0,2-0,7 vekt% boraks.
11. Smøremiddelformulering ifølge krav 1-9 for anvendelse på arbeidsstykker med overflatetemperaturer fra 1000°C, karakterisert ved at den består av
a) 45-70 vekt% av et glasspulver og/eller 0-20 vekt% av en glassf ritte,-
b) 20-25 vekt% naturlig eller syntetisk grafitt;
c) 7-20 vekt% av ett eller flere alkalisilikater med den generelle formel Me2 0 n Si02 , hvor Me betyr litium, kalium eller natrium og n betyr en tallverdi mellom 1 og 4;
d) 1-2 vekt% av et vannløselig natriumpolymetaf osf at
e) 0-1 vekt% av et vannuløselig natriumpolymetafosfat,•
f) 1,5-2 vekt% av et fortykningsmiddel;
g) 0-0,25 vekt% boraks.
12. Anvendelse av smøremiddelformuleringen ifølge krav l-ll for direkte smøring av arbeidsstykker med en overflatetemperatur fra ca. 800°C til1 300°C ved varmbearbeiding av metaller.
