Abstract

Vandig oppslemming av smektittleire med høyt faststoffinnhold, og som omfatter en vandig løsning eller emulsjon med minst 0,2 vekt%, basert på oppslemmingen, av et salt av et amin med lav molekylvekt, hvor det er dis-pergert ca. 10-47 vekt%, basert på oppslemmingen, av en smektittleire. Aminsaltet er effektivt til forhindring av at smektitten sveller i noen vesentlig grad, hvorved oppslemmingen kan transporteres og lagres uten at det skapes noe geldannelsesproblem. Den inhiberende eller undertrykkende effekt av aminsaltet på svellingen av leire og på gel-dannelsen av oppslemmingen er reversibel ved etterfølgende fortynning med vann, hvorved bruk av smektitten ved typiske anvendelser, f.eks. som retensjonshjelpemiddel ved papir-fremstilling, eller som viskositetsøkende middel, gjøres lettere.
