Abstract
En fremgangsmåte for fremstilling av en komponent for en aluminiumproduksjonscelle laget av et karbonbasert komposittmateriale inneholdende et ildfast hardmetallborid, -karbid, -oksid, -nitrid eller kombinasjoner eller blandinger derav og aluminium, titan, silisium og zirkonium, og legeringer og forbindelser derav, omfatter først tilveiebringelse av en reaksjonsblanding av aluminium, titan, silisium eller zirkonium og forløpere som reagerer under dannelse av den ildfaste hardmetallforbindelse, og eventuelle fyllstoffer og tilsetningsmidler. Reaksjonsblandingen blandes med partikkelformig karbon i en mengde av fra l til 20 vektdeler karbon pr. l vektdel av reaksjonsblandingen, og med et kolloidalt bindemiddel inneholdende minst ett av kolloidalt silika, alumina, yttriumoksid, ceriumoksid, thoriumoksid, zirkoniumdioksid, magnesiumoksid, litiumoksid, i en mengde for fullstendig å fukte karbonpartiklene. Den resulterende blanding kompakteres og tørkes og oppvarmes for å igangsette reaksjon av reaksjonsblandingen ved selvforplantende mikropyretisk reaksjon.
