Abstract
Bindemidler for trekompositter er beskrevet. The binder comprises a combination of organosolv lignin and a phenol-formaldehyde resin in a weight ratio of 0.5:99.5 - 70:30 based on the phenolic solids in the formaldehyde resin. The binder further comprises a modifier which improves the performance of the binder. Binders comprising an organosolv lignin and a liquid formaldehyde resin are also described. The organosolv lignin solution comprises either an alkaline solution or a dispersion. Binders in which the organosolv lignin is phenolated or methylated for incorporation into the phenol-formaldehyde resin are also described. Wood composites such as veneers, waferboards and oriented strand boards were produced using the binders. The results of analysis of the boards show that the wood composites are competitive with wood composites produced using commercial binders.
