Abstract

En fremgangsmåte til fremstilling av en karbidforbindelse såsom silisiumkarbid er beskrevet. En reaktor er skaffet som har et kammer avgrenset deri og som er inndelt i en forbrenningssone og en reaksjonssone. En brennbar blanding omfattende karbonmonoksid og et oksida- sjonsmiddel injiseres inn i forbren- ningssonen og blir forbrent for dannelse av varme forbrenningsprodukter. Minst en reaktant injiseres ved grenseområdet mellom sonene slik at den føres inn i reaksjonssonen av de varme forbren- ningsprodukter og reagerer for fremstil- ling av et forløperproduktpulver som omfatter et oksid, såsom silisiumdioksid, og karbon. Dette forlcperproduktpulver varmes opp i en inert atmosfære for å gi den ønskede karbidforbindelse.
