Description
Description
Ventilation duct cleaner for home use.
Title
Ventilation duct cleaner for home use
The purpose of the invention.
As there is a need for ventilation duct cleaning, I have come up with a device that will make any homeowner able to clean his/hers own ventilation ducts.
Background for the invention.
Today there are several companies that offers to clean our ventilation ducts, but this is expensive and the need for cleaning re-occurs after a few years.
As I have a business offering this service, I have over time realized that I can sell a product enabling homeowners to perform duct cleaning themselves.
The device will be built by using a vacuum hose, fabricated plastic devices, a flexible axle and suitable brushes. To operate the device the homeowner will use a battery drill and a normal household vacuum cleaner.
Today there is not any device like this for the home market. Professional companies use a similar technique for cleaning ducts, but those machines are far more costly and not for the homeowner. My invention will be priced low enough so that all homeowners that have ventilation systems can afford it. Link to the professional equipment that is most similar: www.rotobrush.com
Short Summary
The power drill will make the brush rotate via a flexible axle inside the hose, as the brush rotates as the device is pushed into the ventilation duct, the dust and debris from the duct will be brushed loose and sucked into the openings in the end piece. All the dust and debris from the duct will be sucked thru the hose and into the vacuum cleaner.
Short description of the drawing.
Explanation to drawing no.1:
The drawing shows how the device will look when its finished. The vacuum cleaner and the power drill is there to illustrate how it works and not a part of the device.
How it works
Device description:
The device consists of a flexible axle inside the vacuum hose with a brush at the end connected to the axle.
The holes in the brush end of the hose (drawing 4.) will let the dust brushed away from inside the ducts be vacuumed thru the hose and into the vacuum cleaner. Braces with metal linings inside the end piece will make the construction tough enough to handle the forces applied by the wire and brush (drawing 5). The brush at the end will be made to suit 80-125mm ducts and made by a material that will not damage the ducts. The vacuum cleaner will be connected to the device via a rubber sleeve (drawing 2) that will fit all normal household vacuum cleaners.
At the drill end (Drawing 2) there will be an axle connection that will fit all normal power drills or corded drills. The end where the drill and vacuum are connected will have a metal lining (drawing 3) so that the plastic is not damaged by the axle. There will also braces inside the device that will hold the flexible axle (drawing 3).
Claims (7)
1. patent for cleaning ventilation ducts of
various sizes.
2. Patent basic construction. A flexible axle
is run inside the hose and is driven by a
drill. As the flexible axle rotates, the
brush at the brush end will rotate and
loosen dust inside the ventilation duct. A
vacuum cleaner at the drill end will
create a vacuum inside the hose and
vacuum out dust from the ventilation
duct.
3. The drill end is constructed with inside
braces (ref l.)to hold the flexible axle
while letting dust be sucked thru.
4. A flexible axle (ref 2.) will run inside the
hose from the drill end and to the brush
at the brush end.
5. A sleeve (ref 3.) will fit most vacuum
cleaners.
6. At the brush end the flexible axle runs thru braces and connects to the brush, (as the wire rotates the brush will rotate and loosen dust from inside the ventilation duct.)
7. Openings in the brush end will let the dust be sucked into the hose and into the vacuum cleaner.
