Utgående fra en ny og eksakt algebraisk formel for impulsresponsen for en akustisk planreflektor ved nulloffset med en akustisk punktkilde tilveiebringer den foreliggende oppfinnelse en fremgangsmåte for beregning av en eksakt impulsrespons for en akustisk planreflektor ved nulloffset med en akustisk punktkilde; og utgående fra fremgangsmåten, fremgangsmåter for testing og validering av algoritmer for numerisk modellering av seismisk refleksjon, seismisk migrasjon og seismisk inversjon; en fremgangsmåte for testing av effisiensen for strålingsteoretisk løsning for en gitt kilde-reflektorkonfigura-sjon; en annen fremgangsmåte for beregning av nulloffset-refieksjonsrespons for en sirkulær reflektor ved den sentrale akse; nok en annen fremgangsmåte for validering av en fortolkning av en reflektor som en plan struktur; nok en annen fremgangsmåte for estimering av den seismiske kilde-tidsfunksjon når nulloffset-refleksjonsresponsen til en planreflektor er gitt.
