Abstract

Et system og en fremgangsmåte for å bestemme (simulere) retningsmålinger for et boreverktøy som til tider roterer og til andre tider ikke roterer. Fremgangsmåten omfatter å utføre et første sett av målinger når apparatet (boreverktøyet) roterer, et andre sett av målinger når apparatet ikke roterer, og kombinasjon av det første og andre sett for å oppnå (komme frem til basis for) retningsmålingene. Systemet omfatter et sender/mottakerpar hvor senderen har et magnetisk dipolmoment parallelt med en lengdeakse for apparatet, og hvor mottakeren har et magnetisk dipolmoment skråstilt i forhold til denne akse. Videre omfatter systemet en elektronikkmodul for å aktivere senderen og detektere et mottakersignal, slik at et første sett av målinger kan utføres når apparatet roterer, og et andre sett av målinger når apparatet ikke roterer. Endelig omfatter systemet en prosessor for å kombinere det første og det andre sett av målinger (resultatene) for å komme frem til (simuleringen av) retningsmålingene.
