Abstract

A first step comprises a non-dispersive optical filter that transmits light within a particular wavelength range, e.g. a signal channel from a laser source to be transmitted to an in / out waveguide, while light within another wavelength range, e.g. one or more detector channels will be directed from the in / out waveguide to a second stage. The second stage comprises a reflective diffraction grating with a higher resolution than the first stage, which provides pass bands 2 to 5 times narrower than the first stage.
