Abstract

Det beskrives en fremgangsmåte og anordning ved tinnitus for å tilveiebringe lindring for en person som lider av de forstyrrende virkninger av tinnitus. Fremgangsmåten kan i sin helhet gjennomføres i dataprogramvare for å spektralmodifisere et lydsignal i overensstemmelse med en forhåndsbestemt maskeringsalgoritme som modifiserer intensiteten i lydsignalet på utvalgte frekvenser. Det beskrives en forhåndsbestemt maskeringsalgoritme som tilveiebringer periodisk maskering av tinnitusen, hvor tinnitusen ved et behagelig lyttenivå er fullstendig skjult i løpet av topper i lydsignalet, mens oppfatningen av tinnitusen fremtrer nå og da i løpet av daler. I praksis er det blitt funnet ut at slik periodisk maskering tilveiebringer en umiddelbar fornemmelse av lindring, styring og avslapping for personen, mens den muliggjør tilstrekkelig oppfatning av tinnitusen til at det kan skje tilvenning og langsiktigbehandling. Den forhåndsbestemte maskeringsalgoritme er fordelaktig spesifikt skreddersydd til personens audiometriske mønster.
