Abstract
Den foreliggende oppfinnelse tilveiebringer en fremgangsmåte for økning av oljeutvinning fra et underoverflatisk oljereservoar hvor det i dette er til stede en første produksjonsbrønn og en injeksjonsbrønn, hvilken fremgangsmåte innbefatter: å injisere karbondioksid ned i injeksjonsbrønnen før slutten av primærfasen av reservoarlevetiden; å tillate injisert karbondioksid å penetrere inn i et oljebærende lag av formasjonen som omkranser injeksjonsbrønnen; å generere en tredimensjonal seismografisk avbildning av i det minste en del av reservoaret som det injiserte karbondioksidet har penetrert inn i; å fra avbildningen identifisere områder av formasjonen med abnormal permeabilitet for fluidstrømning; å i det minste delvis benytte den identifiseringen til å konstruere en datamaskinmodell av fluidstrømning i reservoaret; å benytte modellen for å predikere effekter av i det minste en av de følgende handlinger (i) å plassere en ytterligere produksjonsbrønn i reservoaret, (ii) å plassere en ytterligere injeksjonsbrønn i reservoaret, (iii) å endre hydrokarbonutvinningsraten fra en eksisterende produksjonsbrønn i reservoaret, og (iv) å endre strømningsraten eller egenskapen til et injeksjonsmiddel i en eksisterende injeksjonsbrønn i reservoaret; og å utføre i det minste en av nevnte handlinger.
